I have signed up for 3 classes at Skagit Valley College. I was hoping to find some friends to take the classes with so we can carpool. they are going to be in Mount Vernon. the Kitchen Garden class location hasn't been decided yet and the lady at the registration office said if enough people from whidbey register and ask for it they might hold it at the campus in oak harbor.
here are descriptions of the classes i'm taking:
Sustainable Kitchen:
Explore ways to live lightly and well in your kitchen: simple kitchen gardens sourcing food locally, buying and cooking in batches, and proper storage of oils and grains. we will also look at air quality and under the sink, including how to make your own green cleaners .
October 14th 6:30-8 cost:$25
Redesign and redecorate your home:
Learn the elements to consider when redesigning a room: furniture placement, color, flooring, lighting, window treatments, accessories, and how to define space. put your knowledge to work in the second session when you will redesign your own space. Kay Hall the instructor is a professional home stager.
October 6th and 20th 6-9 pm. cost:$49
Kitchen Gardens:
You've heard food travels 1500 miles on average from where it's produced to your table. plant your own vegetable garden and you can reduce that fuel usage. plus you will be eating healthier fresher food. WSU master gardeners will talk to you about how to prepare your beds now, when to sow, what varieties of veggies do well in the pacific northwest and which ones you can still plant this fall.
October 2nd 6-8pm cost:$25
You can call 360-416-7873 to register or if you have questions.
I'm really excited to take these classes and would love to have someone (or several someones) to take them with!!!
