ok so i really should stop reading things on the Internet, it sets me off in all sorts of different directions, my latest, rear-facing car seats. it turns out that we as Americans are in way too much of a rush to turn our babies around to front facing. a lot of other countries wait and keep their children rear-facing till 5 or 6 years old. the truth of the matter is that a child is 4 to 5 times safer rear-facing than forward. a child's vertebrae are not fused till somewhere between 3 and 4 years, so during a crash they could be internally decapitated. being rear-facing virtually eliminates this. well, after reading all of that i went and checked Emelia's car seat specks and it turns out she can still be rear-facing until 35 lbs. she is just barely 30 lbs. so i decided to switch her around and see how it goes. she actually really liked it. it's a little hard to tell because those of you who know emmy know she HATES to be in her car seat, but she actually seems to like this way better, we had way less whining. it did look comfy. i figure we will leave her like this till she is too big.

good decision! I want to keep Noah rear-facing until 35 pounds also. I don't think I'll have any support though.
She looks like she is having a good time back there.
