Mike got me tickets to see "Wicked" for our anniversary, which was in July. Last night was the performance, and it was Awesome!! I love the theater, everything about it. Musicals are my favorite, and Broadway stuff tops my list. When in New York Mike took me to see "Aida" and it was spectacular! so anyway last night we went to see "Wicked" which if you don't know is the untold story of the witches of OZ. I read the book, and have the music memorized (thanks MarLee for the CD) so i was thrilled to get to see the stage production! It was nothing like the book. The book was very dark and kinda weird. the play was much more upbeat (though still on the darker side for Broadway) The talent was unbelievable. the actor who played Elphiaba (the wicked witch of the west) had an amazing voice, and she had a stage presence that was remarkable. Galinda/Glinda was also very talented, her voice didn't have the same depth as Elphiaba, but her acting ability stole the show, she gave a depth to ditsy. the sets and music were breathtaking, and the special effects where well done, i found myself explaining to a woman in the bathroom line at intermission, just how they did the rain effect. We had a great time! Thanks to my sister and her hubby for driving all that way to babysit, it was so nice to know that while we were out my kids were having a great time too!
