Our story

ok, lots of women are posting how they met and fell in love with their Husbands so i figured i would join the lot. It all started more than 7 years ago. i was 19 and was working full time at a daycare in a not-so-nice neighborhood of Seattle. i was also going to school full time majoring in Early childhood special education. i had moved out on my own and was living with 4 other girls from institute in a house lovingly refereed to as the convent. i was out to change that image, dating pretty much every boy in our ward. anyways, i had a plan.... join the peace corps for 2 years come home, go on a mission, get married, have 4 kids and live happily ever after. I had all my paper work filled out for the Peace Corps, i had my DR exam my letters of reference all ready to go,but for some reason (unknown to me at the time) i couldn't mail it. so i was trying to decide what to do when i remembered that my Uncle (who lives in Massachusetts) was going to Spain for the summer i wondered if he needed a house sitter. a few phone calls later and i was buying train tickets to spend the summer on the east coast. i'll mail my peace corps stuff when i get home i thought.

fast forward a few weeks and there i am alone on the east coast. well i had my grandma (my grandpa passed away just a few weeks before i left) i also had a few cousins and an aunt. but i really didn't see them much. i got a job at a deli\bakery my mom had worked at many years prior. i really wanted to go to institute but the nearest one was about 40 min. away in Connecticut and i didn't have a car. my wonderful grandma set me up with a friends son who went to institute and could give me a ride. i met some wonderful friends there, and even dated the boy giving me rides a few times. then i heard a group was planning on going to NYC for the 4th of July. i had never been to the city and really wanted to that summer. apparently there was a boy who had just moved from Connecticut to New Jersey and they were going to stay with him. i invited myself along.
----ok i promise i get to the part with mike really soon!------
So, we head down to New Jersey (along with Jeff the boy who i had been kinda dating). we get to this house and i met a very cute boy named Mike ( i had a crush instantly) and then i met MarLee. Ahhh i thought this must be his wife. too bad i thought. then a few hours later Todd came home....... i was confused. turns out MarLee is married to Todd and Mike was just renting a room from them (MarLee by the way is now one of my very best friends) i was glad to see that he was single. we headed out to NYC the next morning and i had a plan, i only had this one day to get this mikes attention. so i followed him around the city..... striking up conversation any way i could.but it wasn't going very well. at one point i found an excuse to take his picture, thinking at least i'll have a picture......anyways i was finally able to get through to him and we hit it off. we actually missed most of the fireworks at Battery Park because we were talking. we have been together ever since. (Jeff wasn't so thrilled) our first date was to the Sacred Grove and the church pageant there. We saw each other ever weekend, he lived about 2 and a half hours away. i would sleep at my grandmas house when he visited. we saw a lot of the east coast, and fell in love almost immediately. we even went back to NYC a few times. we feel a special connection the NYC since that's where we met and dated. it was a hard road. mike is 12 years older than me, a fact of which a lot of people weren't too thrilled about. i got an awesome job offer back in Seattle (being a Nanny to a family i had babysat for) and i decided to go back. if it was meant to be it would work out well,He proposed Nov. 23 of 2001, we got married July 3 2002 in the Seattle Temple. ( for those of you paying attention thats the one year anniversary of the day we met.) we moved to Utah and started our family soon there after. it hasn't been all smiles and sunshine but it we get through this life relying on each others strengths to support our weaknesses. Mike is a wonderful Husband, Father and Friend. I'm blessed everyday to have him. i'm very glad i was able to find the plan my Heavenly Father had for me.
