did you just tell me my baby needs surgery?

Zackery has been really cranky lately, not sleeping and all that. yesterday he started getting a low-grade fever, so this morning (after another long night of screaming) i decided to take him into the Dr. to see if maybe he had an ear infection. Right before we left the house i changed Zackery bottom and i noticed a lump on his bum, it looked painful. i thought it was a good thing we were on our way to the Drs office i can have him look at that lump while we are there. well, Zackery doesn't have an ear infection but does have an infected abscess on his bottom. There is a good chance that this will require surgery to drain. So my Dr. spent the next half hour on the phone with a Surgeon at Seattle's Childrens hospital who put Zackery on antibiotics and wants to see him in his office for a surgical consult monday at 2:00. Dr. Beumer said Zackery will either need a simple surgery to drain the infection or he could require major exploratory surgery to find and remove infection. Dr. Beumer also said the risk of the infection spreading is pretty high due to the high amount of veins in the area that's infected. David Walton is coming over in a few minutes to help Mike administer to Zackery, I'm so glad to have such a great ward family always ready to help out. I feel like Zackery will come through this just fine. Seattle Childrens Hospital is a great Hospital and i'm glad to be able to have access to it. Please keep Zackery in your prayers for us.
