I'm not sure why i'm feeling compelled to blog this but i am so here it goes. I'm feeling very thankful for my beautiful Zackery. When i first found out i was pregnant with him i was surprised, he wasn't planned and I wasn't ready for another pregnancy, birth and baby!! To be honest i wondered what on earth God was thinking, i could hardly manage with the ones i have. After some prayer and contemplation i came to the understanding that my Father in Heaven loves me and understands my life and the trials i face. i was blessed with a comfort that everything would work out. anyways, fast forward 9 months and there i was in the hospital holding my precious new arrival. i had a fairly easy (natural) childbirth and was very happy to be done. I knew then what God had known all along, i need this child, like i need oxygen, i need this child. I was so happy looking into his eyes it was like God had sent me an angel to give me the strength to carry on. Thats when the Doctor came in. I didn't understand everything she was saying, it was a lot of medical talk and i was tired, i did however understand the bottom line. My child this precious little boy was sick. I couldn't believe it at first, he looked perfectly healthy, (he was 8 lbs 15 oz) however inside his bloodstream where millions of tiny antibodies (from my own body) that where, as we speak, attacking his red blood cells. The doctor had said his levels where very high and he was at a great risk for needing a whole blood transfusion. that's where they take all his blood out and replace it with donor blood. so the doctor explained this to me and then left. so there i was sitting in my hospital bed holding this amazing little baby, looking into his sweet little eyes and thinking "WHY? why would you send me this baby only to take him back??" i was so scared, the Doctor had told me even though he looks fine now anytime over the next day or two they expect him to get very sick. at the same time she explained that if we where to have another baby, that baby would have a high chance of being still born or being born premature, in other words "you should be happy to have the children you have" i felt like i was holding a ticking time bomb. I remember holding him close to my breast and taking every inch of him in, every sight, sound, smell, feeling. thinking at least i can have this time no matter what the future holds i have right now to hold on to. the one thing on my mind was, this baby needs a priesthood blessing now. We called Trent Lay who came down to assist mike. as they laid their hands on his tiny head i pleaded with my Father to make him well. In the blessing Zackery was blessed that we would make a full recovery. those words eased my soul. i knew he would make it. They came and took his blood every 2-3 hours to check on him. we did a lot of waiting and a lot of praying. well, the bomb never did go off. Zackery spent one extra day under the Billie lights for a case of jaundice and was sent home, happy and healthy. Our doctor simply said "His levels being as high as they where he should be a very sick little guy, I guess he didn't read the same text book I did." i know that the power of the priesthood saved my precious little man. i am grateful every day for my unexpected miracle.
